Xeroforhire's Interactive Newsletter (Oct 2024)
2024 has been an ANGRY Year but it uncovered something new that I’d never noticed before.
Featured Podcast: Since this is my first iteration of this style of newsletter thought I’d be good to highlight my plans for this. For me, 2024 has been kind of an angry year, what-with all the politics and economics goings on. I decided to try to step back from covering politics for a while to see if that would help, and it did for a little bit.
Tips and Tricks:
A.I. tips in creating music.
Earlier this month I talked about using A.I. to create music (Listen Here) but instead of just linking, I thought it’d be fun to use A.I. to tell you a little more about my process. So let me turn over the Newsletter to my A.I. hosts over at “The Deep Dive Podcast” to tell you more.
In the News: Good October releases for Marvel and DC look like slim-pickins for sure.
Absolute Batman (Scott Snyder) & Absolute Wonder Woman (Kelly Thompson) look good to me. IDK why DC is not putting Kelly Thompson’s name on the press release. But everything else seems to be more of the same: Batman and Superman books.
As for Marvel, well NOTHING in the “From the Ashes” reboots look good to me with the exception of Wolverine. I’ll also be picking up Wolverine Revenge as well.
Storm has an interesting look now. I haven’t been paying attention to how they’ve been drawing her as of late. her hair looks like clouds as she flies through the sky. Other than that, I’m not crazy about her generic Nigerian look. What do you guys think?
They’re gonna try yet another reboot and give her a solo series, STORM (2024) #1, on sale this Wednesday, October 2
Comics I’m Reading:
GlobalComix has been a lifesaver for me being able to preview comics and shop for new stuff to read. I've been trying to find an app like this so that I can read Comics by reputable companies that I actually care about, as well as Indie artists who are taking their career seriously enough to produce published comics.
Thanks to this platform I've been able to enjoy the following titles:
Dillon Brown thinks he's made a friend with new transfer student Lilly Quist. But when the grisly remains of local kids appear, he starts to suspect the new girl has something to do with it.
Have you ever really wanted to be a super hero? Dave Lizewski has - and he's not willing to let it stop with simple daydreams. Designing a suit for himself and taking the name "Kick-Ass," Dave decides to make his dreary existence more exciting - and maybe even help some people in the process. But with no special powers and outmatched by New York City's most hardened criminals, Kick-Ass might be in for a little more than he bargained for.
Is there anyone more formidable than Leonardo, the sword-wielding leader of the TMNT? No one except perhaps his own dark, mirror image. Flashback to the times when Leo was compelled to indulge his most dangerous impulses and become Dark Leo, one of the deadly ranks of the Foot Clan.
Prepare for the imminent launch of the Conan mini-series BATTLE OF THE BLACK STONE with this special issue! Explore captivating stories that set the stage for the mini-series.
Anime I’m Watching:
This one is a pretty mature show for people who enjoy shows like Restaurant to Another World, where the key focus in the skill involved in the real-world art of Bartending. This is a great show for watching after work.
It’s ok to start late. That’s the message we get from shows like Kaiju #8. This one is no different, but with a twist. You’ll get to see what it’s like in the world of an adventurer who ended up training a little too hard.
Another one of those funny action shows with great fight scenes starring a character who's way too overpowered for the world that he's in. I guess that's what we get when shows like Solo Leveling become massive successes. The best thing about this one though is that it's a proper Fantasy and not another Isekai. I Perry everything features and antagonist with humility like you've never seen before. He's also kind of dumb.
Suggested Youtube Videos:
Baby Metal just released a SUMMER BANGER that I didn’t find out about until today. Better late than never…I guess.
Creative Tools: You’ve already witnessed the Power of Notebook LM. It’s Google’s new tool for creating short podcasts from sources like, Google Docs, Youtube videos (using transcripts), websites and even pasted text (or manual input). I’ve been playing with it quite a bit, and I’m learning a lot about it. I think you should give it a try.
My Comic Update: Catching up on fulfilling orders, and new books with new characters.
This week I will finally be able to fulfill the rest of the comic book orders from my Indiegogo campaign. The new books turned out great and I can't wait for you all to see them.
I also plan to spend the month writing some short synapses for character origins. I have a handful of characters that I'd like to start showcasing, and my idea is to put them all together into one magazine and work on producing that instead of just a standard comic. It will give me the ability to work out my ideas as well as bring other people's works to the forefront as a publisher. I think it's a big undertaking, but it will also be beneficial as we get things rolling. Hopefully by next month I'll have an Indiegogo campaign to help get things started on that.
Mail Bag: unfortunately, I don't have any mail to share with you this time around. That part is up to you. If this is a part of the newsletter that you like to see happen, then head over to my website and leave an email in the form. We'll see what happens next month.
